About

Stomp the Stigma

We are a group of students pursuing advocacy through our classwork, seeking to create a reach out to the mental health and wellness committee that extends beyond our course to provide opportunities for mental health education, wellness, and organizational support from places such as Active Mind and CAPS at Montclair State University. Our class aims to create a public forum for experts to talk about what it means to live with mental health, and how to survive and thrive as a person with mental illness, as well as maintain a website with further resources and online content to allow students and those interested in mental health and wellness techniques to explore ways of improving their mind and health!

About
CAPS

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Montclair State University provides free, voluntary and confidential services to all Montclair State students. According to CAPS’ website, the department’s goal is to help students develop new skills to prevent problems, resolve issues, and promote general wellness. Students can make appointments with CAPS by phone or by attending a Let’s Talk session, which is an informal, walk-in consultation with a counselor.

About
Active Minds

Active Minds is an organization that empowers students to increase awareness about mental health issues on college campuses and helps students utilize resources, making it easier to seek help as soon as it is needed. We strive to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health issues, so that students feel like they can openly express themselves without feeling as though they are being judged by others. We serve as a liaison between the student body and the mental health counseling and support resources on our campus.
